Everything you need on Salamanca Family – Breaking Bad & Better Call Saul - in one friendly, mobile-first page.

The Salamancas are a fictional Mexican crime family central to Breaking Bad (2008–2013) and its prequel Better Call Saul (2015–2022). Ruthless, violent, and fiercely loyal, they live by the code "¿Sabes qué? ¡La familia es todo!" — family is everything. Blood demands blood.
The family is headed by Hector Salamanca (Mark Margolis), a founding capo of Don Eladio's Juárez Cartel who, after a disabling stroke in 2004, is confined to a wheelchair and communicates by ringing a brass bell. The family claims to have "built this whole business" with their money and blood, and its members serve as the cartel's most feared soldiers: distributor Tuco, enforcers Marco and Leonel (the Cousins), cartel capo Lalo, and bodyguard Joaquin.
Across both shows, the Salamancas are the primary rivals of Gustavo Fring, whose decades-long revenge systematically destroys them. By the end of Breaking Bad, nearly the entire family is dead — a fate Hector seals himself when he detonates a suicide bomb in the Season 4 finale "Face Off," killing Gus Fring and himself.
Who's who in the Salamanca clan, fictional family as depicted across the two series.

Héctor "Tío" Salamanca (Mark Margolis) is the savage patriarch of the family and a high-ranking capo in the Juárez Cartel. He spent 17 years in San Quentin prison without ever informing on the organization, cementing his legend as "all blood." After the stroke in Better Call Saul, Hector loses his speech and mobility, communicating through the ringing of a call-bell — one ring for "yes," two for "no." The bell becomes his signature, and his last act is pressing it to trigger a bomb strapped to his wheelchair, killing Gus Fring in a final act of vengeance ("Face Off," Breaking Bad S4). Margolis's performance earned wide acclaim across 8 Emmy-nominated episodes of Better Call Saul. He died in 2023 at age 83.
Marco (Luis Moncada) and Leonel (Daniel Moncada), known as the Cousins, are the family's twin hitmen — silent, ritualistic enforcers famous for their silver-tipped boots and knee-walking mercy stance before a kill. In a key flashback, Hector teaches them the code by nearly drowning Marco until Leonel fights to save him: "Family is all." After Tuco's death, the Cousins hunt Walter White and later Hank Schrader (Leonel loses his legs). They embody the cold mythology of the family's blood-for-blood creed.
Tuco Salamanca (Raymond Cruz) is the volatile, drug-crazed street distributor in Albuquerque who introduces Walter White and Jesse Pinkman to the drug trade before dying in a shootout with DEA agent Hank Schrader ("Grilled," Season 2). Eduardo "Lalo" Salamanca (Tony Dalton) appears only in Better Call Saul: charismatic, intelligent, and vicious, he runs the family's operation after Hector's stroke and pursues Gus Fring relentlessly. Gus ultimately kills Lalo and buries him beneath the superlab — a secret that haunts Jimmy Saul Goodman. Dalton's Lalo is widely considered one of the finest villains in the franchise.
